The deer

The deer is my character's actual animal spirit that she finds on her dream quest. The woman is Dr. Jesse Running Creek. A beautiful native Amercian Indian who is as heroic as my main character, Captain Skye Good-Night, her betroth. Her compassion for animals as well for all life makes her invaluable to the crew of Mariposa Spirit. Like the deer, she is swift in movement, but cautious in thought.
