Intelligent Alien Visiting our Oceans?

The octopus is an amazing underwater creature. I think I would have a heart attack if I was diving and saw one. Their eyes are very close to the human eye in evolution. Per trusty and all knowing Wikipedia, the eight armed creature is part of the cephalopod order, which also includes squids, cuttlefish, and nautiloids. I will have to look that last one up and get back to you.

Here's a quote from Wikipedia that I found interesting and disturbing:

The giant Pacific octopus is often cited as the largest known octopus species. Adults usually weigh around 15 kg (33 lb), with an arm span of up to 4.3 m (14 ft). [15] The largest specimen of this species to be scientifically documented was an animal with a live mass of 71 kg (156.5 lb).[16] Much larger sizes have been claimed for the giant Pacific octopus:[17] one specimen was recorded as 272 kg (600 lb) with an arm span of 9 m (30 ft).[18]

I have a minor character in "Y Not," She Meowed, that is a humanoid-octopus. She is the cook on the Mariposa Spirit. She is only threatening when she has her eyes on Buddy and wanting to take her as her new girlfriend. I have also heard that if you put an octopus in a jar, a small one of course, she is so intelligent that she knows how to unscrew the lid and let herself out. What else do they know and aren't telling us? Hmmm....
